October 2026 Community Conversation

This meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 11:30am ET / 10:30am CT / 8:30am PT / 3:30pm GMT. Monthly community meetings are convened over Zoom to discuss topics of interest. Community members are encouraged to bring questions and ideas to share. This month we're pleased to have Jeff Triplett and Tim Gregoire from NASA share how they architected considerable changes and new functionality in ColdFront without affecting the core code. 

They’ve created custom plug-ins for:

•             LDAP management
•             Commercial license management
•             Lustre quotas & usage mapping
•             Custom theming/branding
•             Priority access (“skip the line” to compute access for time critical analysis work)
•             Project management - additional features for onboarding/offboarding/archiving projects
•             Slurm metrics
•             User storage - monitor quotas on NFS and archive storage
•             Workstation manager - track and assign engineering workstations, manage access rights to these resources
•             Reporting - comprehensive reporting engine for users, groups, permissions, audits, compute and storage usage, license usage, etc
•             Cost center - cost calculations, chargebacks, forecasting. Covers actual usage by unit and fractional usage
